All of us enjoy a good origin story, and thanks to Ryan Murphy and Evan Romansky, we now know all about Nurse Mildred Ratched from One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
Together, they have created Ratched, a Netflix series set to premiere in 2020 and explore the life of Mildred before the Oscar-winning film was released in 1975.
Viewers were hooked as they tried to figure out how she became the heartless nurse Louise Fletcher made famous after meeting a friendly (if a little unorthodox and twisted) version of the character.
48 million households tuned in for the first 28 days, making it the most-watched season of 2020.
As long as you count at least two minutes of watching a series, Netflix’s numbers should be taken with a grain of salt.
Are there any plans for more episodes shortly?
The following is a comprehensive guide.
Ratched season 2 release date
Season two has been confirmed, but there has been no word on a release date.
As of December 2021, there had been no further developments in this area.

As of this writing, filming hasn’t even begun because of the cast’s busy schedules, as well as Ryan Murphy’s ever-expanding series count.
Nevertheless, if you keep an eye on this page, we’ll let you know as soon as we learn more.
Ratched Season 2 Cast
Sarah Paulson is the star of the show, and without her, Ratched wouldn’t exist.
Additionally, we can expect Cynthia Nixon to reprise her role as Gwendolyn Briggs, her love interest and lawyer, as well as Finn Wittrock to reprise his role as Edmund Tolleson, her twisted brother.
Sophie Okonedo, Brandon Flynn, Judy Davis, Amanda Plummer, and Vincent D’Onofrio, who played Governor George Milburn and Nurse Betsy Bucket, are all expected to return.
There are, however, a few characters who did not survive the first season.
Dr. Richard Hanover (Jon Jon Briones), nurse Huck Finnigan (Charlie Carver), Lenore Osgood (Sharon Stone), Dolly (Alice Englert), Charles Wainwright (Corey Stoll), and Harold (Corey Stoll) are gone for good unless they show up in flashback form (Jermaine Williams).
Although no new cast members have been confirmed, some new patients may arrive at Lucia State.

Ratched season 2 plot
Season two ended in a very different way than Ryan Murphy and the show’s writers had anticipated, with Nurse Ratched and Briggs moving to Mexico and Nurse Bucket becoming the new head of Lucia State.
Because of a novel mistletoe-based medicine, Briggs, who had been diagnosed with cancer, discovered that she was in remission.
However, she was originally intended to die, and we wouldn’t go so far as to say she’s out of danger just yet.
Nixon told OprahMag.com that the show’s creators originally intended for the finale to be a happy one, but they later changed their minds. They changed their minds about killing off a bunch of characters that were originally going to die.
In addition, Ratched’s brother Edmund, Charlotte, the multi-faceted personality, and Louise, Ratched’s girlfriend, are all on the run.
As soon as he discovered that his sister had a plan to kill him, he will not allow it to go unpunished.
There’s no doubt that the two will cross paths again, but will they be able to mend fences?
One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest is the ultimate goal of this series, but how we get there is anyone’s guess at this point.
Whatever happens, Mildred will be put through her paces to become the twisted, manipulative nurse we all know and love.
If we end up in that era, I think it would be more about Nurse Ratched’s life when she returned to her home in her white uniform after those days at the hospital, with all those events that happened there,” she said to The Wrap.
“You’re going to see a harder Mildred now because the part of her that was engaged in the love and protection and desire for absolution about her brother was the thing that kept her soft.
“I’m not sure what she’ll become now that that’s gone. But I’m becoming increasingly confident that she’s losing touch with her humanity and her heart.”
Ratched season 2 trailer
A trailer hasn’t been released yet, which is a shame.
The good news is that if you’re following us on social media, we’ll be in touch.
Netflix usually releases the trailer a month before the full season is released, following the release of teaser posters and a date.
We can tell it’s on its way when all of those things start arriving!
There’s a new episode of Ratched on Netflix right now.
