The second season of Ginny and Georgia is now filming on Netflix. What we know so far about Ginny and Georgia’s second season, including who is returning, how the story will unfold, and when it will be available on Netflix.
There have been some changes since the first release of this preview in March 2021; it was last updated in February 2022.
The first season of Ginny and Georgia premiered on Netflix on February 24th, 2021, with 10 episodes, and was created by Sarah Lampert.
Following the loss of Georgia’s husband, Ginny and Georgia relocate to a smaller town in order to start a new life. Aside from the traditional family dramas and marital and friendship sagas, the show tackled some weighty subjects like racism and self-harm without giving away too much of the plot.
You can find out if Ginny and Georgia will be renewed, what the show could be about, and what its admirers have to say about the new family drama on Netflix.
How well did Ginny and Georgia perform on Netflix?
On Netflix, Ginny and Georgia’s performance can be judged by several sources; perhaps most intriguing is that a well-known pop star provided the show a significant bump in popularity shortly after its release.
Specifically, we’re referring to Taylor Swift, who was referred to in the play in a somewhat trite joke line about how many men one of the characters in the show has gone through in comparison to the list of Swift exes that she has had in the past.
It lasted 48 days in the US top 10 and 44 days in the UK top 10 lists, according to FlixPatrol top 10 data. The show was also a hit in other parts of the world, including South Africa, Europe, and Australia.
The show was ranked sixth among the top shows of 2021 as of September 2021. This is what we’ve come to after tallying up the top 10 lists from around the world.
The show was in the Nielsen top 10 for seven weeks in the United States, racking up more than 4,247 million minutes of viewing time.
It premiered at number 14 on IMDb PRO and climbed to number three the following week, which coincides with the week Taylor Swift tweeted.
Finally, on April 20th, 2021, as part of its Q1 2021 investor letter, Netflix itself disclosed audience figures for the show. They found that 52,000,000 viewers watched the show for at least two minutes, according to their statistics.
Ginny and Georgia’s viewing hours peaked at 381 million in late September 2021, making it the tenth most-watched show of all time.

When is production on Ginny and Georgia season 2 starting and when will season 2 be on Netflix?
Filming is scheduled to begin on November 30th, 2021.
After being renewed in April 2021, development hasn’t moved as quickly as similar series like Virgin River, which has been renewed for a second season.
Instead, we learned that production would begin in September of that year. We can confirm that the series will begin production on November 29th and run until April 8th, 2021. Season 2 of Firefly Lane has a similar release date, so it’s probable that we’ll see the two come out at the same time again.
“gearing up to film season two” was announced by the show’s official Instagram page in mid-October. Debra Fisher also posted a picture of herself and Brianne Howey on Instagram with the caption “S2 coming in hot” as a hint that production was nearing completion.
On November 30th, Ginny and Georgia showrunner Debra Fisher announced on Instagram that the second season of the program was in production.
The first episode will be directed by James Genn, as seen in the clapper below.
Blue Ice Pictures, Critical Content, and Dynamic Television are all collaborating in the production, which will be shot in Toronto, Canada.
On Twitter in December 2021, Tony Gentry gave a brief update on the progress of filming.
According to a public notification on the website of the Coburg, Ontario region, the series was once again filmed there. Filming in the town took place between the 22nd and the 25th of February at venues such as:
- Victoria Park
- Victoria Hall
- King Steet West from Third Street to Hibernia Street
Aaron Ashmore joins the Ginny and Georgia season 2 cast
It was revealed in January 2022 that X-Men veteran Aaron Ashmore (who has also appeared in Netflix’s Locke & Key) will be joining the cast in season 2.
It has been reported that Ashmore will portray Gil Timmins, Georgia’s ex-husband and Austin’s father, who has been absent from her life since he was arrested and sentenced to prison on charges of embezzlement.
What could happen in season 2 of Ginny and Georgia?
Warning: This section contains major plot twists! If you haven’t watched the first season, stop reading now!
Georgia’s involvement in her ex-death husband’s disappearance is, without a doubt, the most pressing issue on the minds of viewers. What if her activities finally catch up with her? That would be a terrible turn for the show. A number of characters from the show’s past have already reappeared, and we should expect more in a possible season 2.
We saw Ginny and Austin go their separate ways at the close of season one. They’ll be fine, we’re sure, but their mother will have to face the consequences of what she did to send them running. Their father Zion is also expected to relocate from Boston to Wellsbury so that he can spend more time with his children. In the event that there are still feelings between him and Georgia, this could cause friction in Georgia’s new relationship with Paul.
Ginny’s personal life was similarly in disarray by the end of season one. Will Ginny be able to mend fences with the rest of her pals in season 2 or will things only grow more tangled? For all we know, Ginny may have cheated on her lover with Marcus, her neighbor who is also a bad lad.
For now, fans of the show can catch the cast including David Spade, Fortune Feimster, and London Hughes at The Afterparty, a special for the show that airs at the end of each episode.
Before we go any further, we should mention the sad death of Lohengrin Zapiain, a member of the show’s crew, to which several of the actors paid respect.
“Scott Porter shared a tribute on Instagram, saying: “
A month ago the #GinnyAndGeorgia crew heartbreakingly lost one of our own, an incredible man and camera operator, Lohengrin Zapiain. We have dedicated this season to him and are reminded of him each time we clap the sticks before a take. We were so incredibly fortunate to have worked with him and become his friend on this little show. He loved his family fiercely and we have a GoFundMe set up to help support them through these difficult times. If you feel so moved by this post to give, or are able to help, you can do so at the link in my bio. It’s doesn’t have to be #GivingTuesday to give on a Tuesday.
Thank you all, and thank you, Loh! We miss you.
